Our Little Fish

Drew started taking swimming lessons at Boundary Waters.  He is liking it some but he think it is kindof babyish.  Hopefully they will move him up a level and then it should be better.  Blakely loves to go watch him.

100 Days of School!

Oh just look at that cute little old Grandma and Papa - aren't they just the cutest!  They are all dressed up for the 100th Day of School!  Yes, can you believe it we have been in school for 100 days - WOW time flies.  The kids had so much fun dressing up for this event.  They just couldn't wait.  They kept asking is today day 100, is today day 100.  So sweet.  They also got to do lots of fun things related to 100 at school today.  Brighten is great - thanks for making my kiddos 100 days smarter!!! :)

Community Service Worker

Today Blakely and Drew had to dress up as a community service worker for school.  They were so excited about this.  Drew knew from the beginning he wanted to be a police officer and then we found this cute little fire fighter outfit for Blakely and she was set to go.  They couldn't wait for this day to happen.  They kept asking everyday - "Is today Community Service Helper Day?"  In class they had to stand up and present themselves.  They did a great job!  Thanks Brighten Academy for another great activity.  I can tell you after the field trip and this dress up day these kiddos can tell you the difference between a good and service.  I love to watch them learn.

It's Field Trip Time!!!

First Stop - Stevi B's

We had a ball at Stevi B's.  It is a great place for a field trip.  The kids loved it!  They were very organized and ready for us when we got there.  To start they got out the dough which the kids loved.  They let them touch it, feel it, play games with it, pull it, throw it, whatever!!!  After playing with the dough - it was pizza making time!  For that they had the different classes go behind the counter and they let the kids learn how to make a pizza.  It was so cute and the kids were SO excited.  After the pizza making it was time to EAT which they all love to do.  They ate and talked and really enjoyed themselves and for the most part they were pretty good and well behaved.  I was impressed.  After a bathroom break we loaded the bus and headed for...

Publix!

This was also a great field trip.  Here we started the trip off by putting on hair nets.  The kids thought this was the funniest thing ever.  It was so cute to see them all in their little hair nets.  After getting all netted up we headed to check out all the different departments in a grocery store.  We started off in the pharmacy where we got to see two elderly people get their flu shots.  A little scary/funny but kindof cool I guess.  Following the pharmacy we headed to the back of the store to check out the refrigerator.  Brrrrrr it was cold!  We also got to see where they store all the groceries prior to putting them on the shelves.  Another cool thing we got see what the box crusher.  Of course all the boys loved this.  We also learned about how they load and unload the groceries.  After checking all the behind the scenes departments we headed to the produce department where the kids had a great time checking out all the different varieties of fruits and vegetables.  We also got to check out the meat department and of course most kids favorite the bakery where we got to see them decorate a cake.  Before leaving we got to head to the cash register where we got to check out some groceries.  Thanks Publix!  After a few class pictures we loaded the bus again and off to stop three...

The Fire Department!

By the time we made it to the fire department a great deal of the kids were starting to get tired but they did great considering they started this day at 8:45 with a BMX bike show.  At the fire department we got to check out the truck, the inside of the station, and the ambulance.  We also got to see a fireman get all dressed up in his gear so that we know that it is not scary and that if we ever see him like that it is okay.  Some of the kids were a little unsure about this but they all payed very good attention.  Thank you Douglas County Fire Department we had a great time.

Overall - you can see we had a GREAT day.  Thank you so much Brighten Academy for another great event and THANK YOU Mrs. Folsom and Mrs. Cathy for all you do to make such great learning experiences for our children.  They are still talking about the trip and I am sure they learned soooo much.  I hope you both have a restful weekend after such a busy week!
