Calendars

Oh the lovely calendars!  I decided this year I would once again make the beloved calendars.  It always seems like a great idea until it gets down to the deadline.  This year I decided that I would advertise a little bit and see if anyone else was interested in them.  Boy did a get a big response.  I really couldn't believe it.  I ordered enough stuff to make 100 calendars and I sold over 100.  I was scraping up coasters and supplies everywhere so I could to get done.  Even after all that I didn't even get one for myself or for my department members which was one of the main reasons I was making them.  Oh well - there is a always next year.  I really do enjoy making them.  I just wish I would plan ahead and not procrastinate but I guess that is the name of the game.  Christmas is so busy and adding in making these calendars makes it even more busy.  I am glad however that people like them and it gives me a chance to make a little extra $$ during the holiday season for all those presents that have to be bought.  I think they are really cute and such a cute, homemade, creative gift.  I know I would love to receive one so I am sure others would as well especially teachers.  They go perfectly on our desk.  Well, Thank You to every one that ordered this year and keep your eyes open for next year.

Poor Sick Baby

I guess all the excitement of the holiday was just too much for this little one.  Wednesday I get a phone call in my classroom and it is my school secretary tell me she is putting a phone call through to my room and that I need to answer it.  I do and it is low and behold Mrs. Folsom telling me Blakely was sick.  I couldn't get in touch with anyone to go get her so I had to quickly leave which when you are a teacher that is not so easy.  I went to get her and when I did they said we are sorry but she is about to come around the door and she is barefoot.  Apparently before I got to the school she had gotten sick three times and it was everywhere including all in her shoes and socks - fun, fun!  Poor little thing!  She was perfectly fine that morning.  I felt so bad for her.  Normally if you know Blakely she likes to be dressed up and looking good but because she had throw up all over herself they had put her in clothing closet clothes and she didn't look like herself at all.  She again had no shoes, no hair bow, pants and a shirt that was too big and she looked very, very pale.  She said she was fine.  I asked her if she was tired she said no but this picture above was taken in the car before we even left the Brighten parking lot.  Poor thing.  Oh well such is life with kids.  Here we are now and it is Friday and she seems to be doing well.  I don't know what this thing is that is going around but I am ready for it to go - Maya, Quinn, Jim, Mom, Drew and Blakely have had it.  YUCK!

Reindeer Day!

Tuesday I got the pleasure of spending the day at Brighten Academy in the Twins classroom for Reindeer Day!  It was so much fun.  Exhausting but FUN!  The twins were so glad I was there.  They loved it.  We started the day off with different holiday themed centers - cookie decorating, ornament making, candy cane making with beads, play dough making, Reindeer bag making, etc....  It was so fun.  I worked with the ornaments.  After center time the kids headed out to lunch and specials.  I headed out to grab a bite to eat and then back to the classroom.  Once we all got back in the classroom we got all decked out like little reindeer complete with antlers and painted noses.  They all looked so cute.  We then headed out to sing to the different classes as well as the office.  The kids all loved it.  We then came back to the classroom where they did a book exchange, made Christmas trees, and ate yummy snacks!  It was a great day over all.  Thank you so much Brighten Academy, Mrs. Folsom and Mrs. Cathy for all that you do for our students.  They love it!

Happy Birthday Addison!

Last Sunday we were invited to Addison's birthday.  The kids were thrilled about the party.  They love Addison and they loved the fact that they were going to go swimming in December!  They couldn't believe it.  They had a great time.  It wore them out which I loved as well.  Thank you so much Addison for inviting them.

It's time to visit SANTA!

It's time for our annual visit to Phipps to see - SANTA!  The kids couldn't wait.  To say they were excited would be an understatement.  We met the Westbrook's and Grammy and Pa at Marlow's Tavern for dinner before heading over to see Santa.  We have never eaten there before and it was pretty good.  After getting full we headed to the mall.  All the kiddos got their list ready and were full of cheer.  They did a great job sitting on Santa's lap.  They told him all about what they wanted.  I love going here each year.  It is so nice.  See you next year Santa!
