It's OFFICIAL!

Today was the day we have all been waiting for - for a looooooooooooong time. Today was Maya's official adoption day. It was so exciting. We headed to court early this morning, everyone was nervous and really not knowing what to expect but it was actually an easy process. We were the first case they called and it didn't take long at all. Maya was the in BEST mood. It was like she knew it was her special day. She was just full of personality and smiling from ear to ear. It was so sweet. After leaving the court we headed to eat and celebrate. Maya welcome to the family! We already love you so, so much. When I told the kids this afternoon - I told them you know what today we found out that Aunt Quinn and Uncle Jim get to keep Maya forever - they both yelled "FOREVER!" They were so excited. Then after thinking a little bit Blakely says "does that mean she gets to be our cousin forever now?" So sweet! When I told her yes they were so excited. They love her so much!

Apron Dress

I REALLY, REALLY want to learn to sew but you know how it goes there is NO time! I can do the basics but I want to learn how to really sew. I have never had a lesson. I just bought a sewing machine and basically taught myself. I used to do some quilting on the machine and took a little class but that was about 8 years ago. Since then I have made a few things here and there like some pillowcase dresses, crayon holders, etc... but I would love to be able to sew more boutique looking clothes for the kiddos (I guess just Blakely - I don't know what I would make for Drew!?!) My Mom always says it's simple just get a pattern and do it - you sew fine but again there is never enough time to do the things you actually like or want to do so with that said I bought a pattern like forever ago, then I bought the fabric, and then it sat and sat and sat then one weekend we were headed to the lake so I brought it and thought I would knock it out there - yeah right again no time. I did get it cut out and got the main part sewed together but then we came home and it sat and sat and sat until TODAY! Today Dad took Drew to the hunting land (THANKS DAD!) so with him gone I knew it would be easier to try to attempt something like sewing so Blakely and I headed down to the basement and that is just what I did - I FINISHED the dress! This as you can tell has really been a work in progress but as you can see I think it turned out pretty cute and definitely boutiquish! Once we jazz it up with a winter colored shirt and some leggings or tights it will be OH SO CUTE! I am so glad I finally got it finished and now I can't wait to move on to something else. (Even if it takes forever!)

Go Braves!

It's that time again - time for BASEBALL! Drew is so excited! This season we have changed parks and we are now playing at Boundary Waters. We are on the Braves (a.k.a. Blue Team) - in Fall Ball they really don't have team names they go by colors but Drew doesn't know that so Braves it is! Go Braves!!! Drew is loving it and is doing so good. We are so proud of him. They practice one day a week for about an hour and a half. They practice hitting, running the bases the correct way (starting with first base!), catching the ball, etc... The practices have been very organized which is really good. Fall Ball is not quite as popular as Spring Ball because there are so many sports and activities going on in the Fall so there is only one team therefore they don't have any other teams to play - they will just be playing themselves every Saturday. The boys don't really get it so they are fine with that. I really wish they had some other teams to play but it is actually working out pretty good. They divide the team in half and they just play each other. This makes the innings go A LOT faster and they don't get bored out in the field quite as fast because they are not out there as long. It also gives them the chance to get to hit more often and of course I think that is their favorite part. Drew is doing much, much better this season and I think it has a lot to do with his glasses. He can now finally see the ball to hit it and catch it! Too funny - poor kid! His cousin, Matthew, is on his team which he really loves. It is so cute to see them get to play together. They love each other so much and how often do you get to be on the same team as your cousin. They are really lucky! Blakely - well she is dealing with ball season. She gets a little bored at practice but she always brings her notebook along to write in. She likes the games a little more because it is more fast paced and she loves cheering on her brother and cousin Matthew. She is so proud of them. They have their own personal cheerleader! Go Braves!

Happy Birthday Leslie!

Happy Birthday Leslie! Friday we went out to celebrate Leslie's birthday. We had a great time. We ate at Gumbeaux's - which was oh so yummy and then we headed over to the Pub. I didn't get to stay their long because we had to be at Drew's baseball game at 8:30 in the morning. It was a lot of fun to go out with NO kids & NO husband! - J/K Phillip :)! No really - it was nice to go out and chat with the girl without kids constantly interrupting. It was good to catch up with everyone. Leslie - I hope you had a GREAT birthday! Can't wait to do it again. Let's not wait two years this time.

My little 4 - I mean 8 EYES!

As you can see now both the Twins are proud new owners of - yes that's right - GLASSES! Drew got his glasses about a little over a month ago and Blakely just got hers this week. When we went to the doctor for there 4 year old check up they stated that both kids eyes needed to be checked. Drew's needed to be checked right away but Blakely could wait. So of course as soon as we left the doctor's office I called and got Drew an appointment. At the appointment we found out that he REALLY can't see and glasses were a must. His eyes were different and they were quite concerned about that. So he got the glasses and he had to wear them for a month and then go back and see how it did. If it did good then just keep wearing the glasses and come back in 3 months, if bad then he was going to have to wear a patch but thankfully when we went his eyes had evened out so the glasses were working. He is doing great with them. He keeps them on and he doesn't really bother him. I think he realizes he can see much better. Now Blakely - she was borderline but we took her to be checked anyway and they said glasses were in order for her to. She doesn't have to have them all the time but more to see at a distance but we of course are not going to tell her that or we may never get her to wear them. So we will see how she does. She just got them yesterday and took them on and off about a million times so this may be fun! I think they both looks just so cute with them on but it makes them look so grown up. Well - we go back in 3 months so we will see how it goes. I am really glad we caught this now before they got in school. Whatever they have wrong with there eyes is due to prematurity and could possible correct itself over time.

On a side note - Maya had her 9 month old check up today and she is doing so good. She did have a little ear infection and some sinus issues going on but besides that she is growing and thriving. She was a little over 19 lbs. She had to get a flu shot as well so that didn't make her a happy camper but all in all everything is going well with her. She started the nursery and seems to be liking that except she is a little nosy thing and doesn't want to nap for the fear of missing something. We love our Miss Maya and our counting down to the official adoption day September 29th.

Yellow Daisy Festival

Sunday Mom, Quinn and I got to attend the Yellow Daisy Festival with NOOOOO kids (Thanks to my WONDERFUL husband :) Phillip)! Not that we don't love the kiddos but going to the festival with out the kids was way easier. We actually got to look at every booth some even twice if we wanted to. It was a great day. We got there as soon as it opened so the crowds weren't to bad. The weather was perfect. You couldn't of asked for a better day. We are exhausted though. I got some Christmas presents bought so that makes me happy and of course we got the kids some cute clothes (Thanks Mom!). Can't wait to go next year!

Founder's Day

Friday night Quinn let the Twins spend the night (THANKS QUINN!) so we could go to the Founder's Day Parade on Saturday morning. We met at Chick-fil-a at 9am got breakfast and then headed over to set up for the Parade. It was a lot of fun. The kids really loved it and paid attention - even Maya. She did a little dancing when the band came by. They got LOTS and LOTS of candy. After the parade they have a little fair so we walked through it and of course the kids wanted to try out the jumpy thing so we did. We had a great time. Thanks for inviting us Quinn.
