Pumpkin Carving Night

Tonight we finally got around to carving our pumpkin.  Because Drew loves Angry Birds we decided to carve and Angry Bird for him.  I printed the pattern and went to work.  I think it turned out pretty good.  In honor of pumpkin carving night we had an "orange" dinner complete with pizza, orange drink, puffs, and mac n cheese.  (No we don't normally eat dinner like this)!  The kids loved it and yuck from the pumpkin kept them busy for about 45 mins.   We had a great time!

Oktoberfest

This was a GREAT event!  This is an annual event at Brighten were all the parents and kids come out for a night of fun Halloween style.  The even includes, games, Truck or Treats, performances, etc...  The kids were soooo excited about this event because they get to wear their costumes and show them off.  They couldn't wait.  We also entered a pumpkin(s) in the pumpkin decorate contest.  They also had a scarecrow decorating contest.  I was on the committee to help and I help with decorations.  I really didn't do much but I made signs for each station, make milk jug ghost that were supposed to glow but it didn't really work out.  Overall the event was great.  Everyone had a great time and my kids got tons of candy!

Farm Field Trip

What a GREAT Field Trip!  Today Blakely and Drew's class headed to a farm in Carrollton for a field trip.  It was a super field trip.  The people were so nice and organized and the kids had a great time.  We started the field trip off by learning about corn then we headed into a mini corn maze.  The kids thought that was great but a few were a little apprehensive.  Once we found our way out they of course loved it.  After the maze they had some slides and hay that the kids could play on - that was fun!  Then we headed on a hay ride around the farm where we got to learn about farms and what all they do.  We also learned about the different kinds of pumpkins and how they grow.  They also had a cute hay pit where the kids got to dig for pennies.  That was really cute!  We also got to feed animals and play in a corn pit.  We had lunch, learned about some different animals and feed a few more farm animals before time to head back to school.  This was a great field trip.  The kids were all so well behaved.  Thanks Mrs. Folsom, Mrs. Cathy and Brighten Academy for another great event!
