Ouch!!!

Well - if you haven't heard or seen - I hurt my foot!  How you ask?  Well, it is really not that exciting of a story.  My kids at school told me that I just need to make up a cool story and wear my nice boot as a badge of honor!  Really what happen was a fell down the stairs.  Over Labor Day Weekend when we were having the yard sale at Nanny's house I was carrying a little nightstand table down the stairs and I made it almost to the bottom before I had the great fall.  In the end me and the nightstand did a not so graceful fall down the stairs.  I knew that it hurt immediately when I did it but I have a pretty high pain tolerance level and I just kind of tried to not think about it and got up and kept moving.  It still hurt but I didn't think it was that bad, then Sunday it was still hurting and swelling, then Monday the same thing but again I just kept thinking it would get better.  Then Tuesday I went to school and it started to swell even more and as I was walking around more at school it started to hurt worse and worse so I got a doctors appoint Tuesday afternoon and sure enough I did hurt it.  I didn't break it but I did tear the ligaments on both sides on my ankle.  They did xrays and checked in all out and put me in this oh, so stylish boot for the next two weeks - fun, fun!!  Then I go back in two weeks and they are going to re-xray and check it out again and hopefully I will get to stop wearing this lovely thing.  It is such a pain and hot!  The doctor said I will probably need some physical therapy when I get the boot off to work up the strength back in it.  So we will see.  I am just ready to walk normal again.  This boot makes small task quite a challenge.  I never realized how much I walk during the day until I had this thing on.

Headed Back to Work!

Tomorrow I have to head back to work - BOO!  Don't get me wrong I am very glad to have a job and I love my high schoolers but I sure have enjoyed my week off.  I guess since I head back tomorrow that means I need to get to sleep since it is after midnight but before I do that I wanted to look back at what all I did this past week so I can feel some what better about heading back to work tomorrow.  Hopefully I will feel somewhat accomplished!  Here is a little bit of what I did during my break -
  • shopped, shopped and shopped some more pretty much everyday including Black Friday when I shopped from 10pm - 6:25am!
  • went to the Mart in Atlanta,
  • went and rode the Pink Pig with the kiddos,
  • had Baby Maya spend the night,
  • 2 Thanksgivings (one with my family on Thanksgiving and one with Phillip's family on Saturday),
  • house completely decorated for Christmas with trees in almost every room,
  • made Christmas ornaments,
  • celebrated Mom's birthday,
  • went out with some high school friends,
  • ran lots and lots of errands,
  • got the car washed,
  • finished a scrapbook for a girl at work,
  • made a burlap bubble wreath,
  • updated my blog,
  • updated my class website,
  • rode to Lagrange with Phillip for work,
  • went to church,
  • made a Christmas list of what I need to get, already got, etc.,
  • sewed a curtain for Baby Maya's table in her room,
  • washed clothes,
  • picked out and ironed clothes for me and both kiddos for ALL week (Way to Go - Whitney!),
  • outfits ready and ironed to go see Santa on Wednesday at Phipps,
  • etc., etc., etc.!!!
Well - as you can see from the above list I used my break to the fullest and it feels really good.  I am so glad I was able to accomplish so much this past week.  Now just 15 days to go until I will be off for two weeks for Christmas break - wonder what I will be able to get done then!  I better head to bed so I have energy for my high schoolers tomorrow (oh and the twins too!)  I will just keep thinking - I can do it, I can do it, I can do it - I CAN!  Merry Christmas!

#23 - #26 All About Me

Sorry once again in my crazy busy life I got behind on these!

#23: I love to eat as I am sure you can tell! I really need to lose weight but I try and I try and never seems to work. I’m a snacker – I could snack all day!

#24: After #23 this sounds better - I am loving working out right now. Quinn and I joined a gym in Villa Rica and we are going to a personal trainer. It is a lot of fun but don't get me wrong a lot of hard work to. Right now we are going to her two times a week - Tuesday and Thursday. We have been going for about two weeks now and she has done legs, arms, back/shoulders, and she always works some ab into the workout. The next day after workout with her I am SOOOOO sore but I guess that means its working. We are also going on other days and just doing cardio. I also bought a DVD my sister-in-law, Catherine, told me about The 30 Day Shred and I can't wait to get started on it. Maybe I will lose this weight one way or another!?!

#25: I love the Zac Brown Band. I really like their music it is fun to listen too. This year/Last year Phillip got me tickets to their concert which was on New Year's Eve at Phillips Arena. It was a lot of fun!

#26: April 26 is my BIRTHDAY! This year I will be 33 years old. Age doesn't really bother me like it does Phillip. I am excited it is my birthday! Blakely has dance pictures so we will be going to those then I will be heading to the gym for a session with the trainer and then you guessed it out to eat with Phillip. We ate for my birthday with Phillip's family a couple weeks ago due to Easter, us going to the lake, etc. and we are eating for my birthday with my family Friday - Mexican!

#22 All About Me

My favorite place to visit would probably be the beach. I love going to the beach. I don't think I would want to live there because I think the sand would get old quick but I sure love to visit. I could just sit there on the beach all day and then go in and get ready and head out for a nice dinner! That's the life!

#21 All About Me

I like to be fixed up! Like I like to get my nails done, hair done, iron my clothes, etc… I can’t imagine not getting ready each day although I think I would love a day when I didn’t just have to wake up and go through the whole process. Oh well, I have a nail appointment tonight! :)

#20 All About Me

My favorite food is Italian! I would eat it every day if I could. I love it ALL! I also would love to go to Italy one day (10 year anniversary trip would be a good idea – Hint, Hint Phillip!)

#19 All About Me

I am a morning person! I do great in the morning. I have patience and I am alert but as the day goes so does that. I can really tell this in my classroom. I do great 1st period - I'm patient, I explain things really well, I help students, 2nd periods my planning, 3rd period - I start getting a little more impatient, I explain things a little bit less, 4th period - I really, really try but I feel myself giving less! I really need to work on this. Since being married to Phillip though I have become a little bit more of a night owl – really I’m pretty much both as my days tend to run from 5:50 a.m. to about 12 a.m.!

#18 All About Me

I am an ON-THE-GO type person! I always like to be on the go! I don’t like to stay at home or just sit around. I like to be out or up doing something – most of the time it doesn’t matter what I am out doing I just like to be doing SOMETHING - whether it is running errands, shopping, taking kiddos here and there, going out to eat, whatever. I just feel like if I am just sitting at home I am wasting time. Well - I better go so I can get going.....

#17 All About Me

I love the internet! I can look and search until it feels like my eyes are going to fall out! I like looking at craft blogs and websites like etsy.com – sites like these are what keep my mind full of ideas!

#16 All About Me

I'm an Organizer! I love for things to be organized. I can’t tell you how many times I have organized and reorganized my scrapbooking stuff! I think I could be a professional organizer - again I don't like to clean - just organize! I am much more organized at school. Here is a picture of just one example - my pantry! Crazy, I know! :)

#15 All About Me

I LOVE our house! I have always wanted my own home and I love this one. It fits our family perfectly. I could like a house with a little more character like older houses but I love the spacious layout this house provides. Some features that I really enjoy are that each child has their own room and bathroom. That is really not a problem now as most of the time they want to be together but I know as they get older this is really going to be great and hopefully cut down on the fighting! Another feature I love is the finished basement. If Phillip is reading this he probably is like "What?" because we never normally go down there but I think it is a great addition to our house. I think it is something we will again use as the kiddos get older. I also love it because it gets to house all the toys. And of course my favorite thing about it is my multiple purpose bedroom/office/scrapbook/sewing room - again I don't use it very often now but I plan to ASAP! **Pictures to come - after I get it cleaned up of course! HA HA

#14 All About Me

I HATE (I know not a very nice word - my mother always told me "that is a mighty strong word"!) to clean house! If there is one thing that I could have it would be a house keeper! I just would love for someone to do the bathrooms and the kitchen and I would be a HAPPY GIRL! I do a terrible job at keeping our house clean and I feel like any free time that I actually do have I don’t want to be doing that. I would rather be enjoying my family, doing crafts, organizing, something but NOT cleaning! Maybe we will win the lottery some day!

#13 All About Me

I love blogging! I just starting doing it this year but so far I am loving it. It's quick, fast, easy and it gives me a good record of our life. I plan to get it printed into a book at the end of the year to be kind of like a scrapbook of our life! I love it!

#12 All About Me

I LOVE Chick-fil-A - 6 piece kid’s meal or if I am really hungry #5 8-count with lots, and lots of BBQ sauce!! Seriously - I could eat this everyday!

All About Me #11

I think my nephews are great! I like that my kids get to grow up so close to them. I hope they are always like that. I love their personalities. It is been so much fun watching Will grow into the young man that he is becoming and Matthew always has us on our toes with his adorable little self!

#4 - #10 All About Me

Sorry but I am a little behind on posting my "daily" All About Me fact! We have been on vacation in Hilton Head and sorry but blog or beach - I pick beach! Well, now that we are home I am getting back on track so here you go...

  • #4 - I hate to cook! Well truly its not that I hate to cook but rather I hate deciding what to cook. I also don't like cooking in small portions I would rather cook for a lot of people. Also - I am a picker eater so that doesn't really help either!

  • #5 - Most of the time I am a happy person and I am easy to get along with. I don’t like to argue with people as I get very emotional.

  • #6 - My favorite cookie is the Oreo! Give me glass of milk and I could eat the whole package.

  • #7 - I like to scrapbook, stamp, and just generally make crafts. I don’t really have time to do what I would like to but my mind is constantly full of ideas!

  • #8 - My goal is to learn how to sew/embroider. I can do the basics but would love to be able to sew clothes for the kiddos or actually probably just Blakely! I don’t know how much Drew would like my handmade clothes!

  • #9 - Shop to you drop – that could be my motto. I love it. It doesn't really matter what I am shopping for I just love to do it. Since I have had the twins shopping for their clothes has been my addiction.

  • #10 - I am a teacher, high school business/marketing teacher to be exact. I love it but would rather be a stay-at-home-mom or at least a part-time stay-at-home-mom but since I’m not I do love the interaction with the students, I love to see them grow and develop into mature adults. I love to see their creative ideas. They amaze me and teach me new things every day.

Family

Thank you!

#3 Thing About Me - I love my family and am VERY grateful for them. I don't know what I would do without them - I thought this before children but I really can't imagine now that I have the Twins. They help us so much with them and I really, really appreciate it. They babysit, buy them things, take them places, etc... I am so lucky to have them and I am so glad my kids have them too!

Happy Anniversary!

#2 Thing About Me... I love my hubby! Today is our 6 year anniversary. I can't believe that it has been six years - on one hand it feels just like yesterday but on the other hand it seems like foooooooooooorever! Just Kidding - It has been great! Happy Anniversary Phillip - I love you forever and always!

I found this on the Internet and I just had to use it here -

In honor of our 6 year anniversary, I've pulled together my Top 6 things I learned in 6 years of being married, which would apply to any couples, married or not. (I don't always do them all, but I strive, and that's a start.)

1. When you're right, shut up. When you're wrong, apologize. It ends an argument more quickly, and that generally means less damage in the meantime. (If only I listened to this.)

2. Despite what the experts say, it's OK to go to bed angry. (Would we ever sleep if we didn't :)) Your spouse can piss you off more than just anyone else, and sometimes some distance -- like 8 hours of sleep -- can change perspective for each of you.

3. Your spouse isn't going to change. The things that annoy you about him (or her) when you are dating will just get worse and become more and more annoying. Be ready for it, and be willing to love him (or her) the way he (or she) is.

4. If you have kids, present a united front when the kids are in earshot at all costs (unless your partner advocates something that might seriously harm the kids, of course.) Undermining your spouse's opinion in front of the kids can really wear on a relationship. If you disagree about his ruling on whether your son can watch a certain TV show, for example, discuss it privately. You have a right to make your case -- just don't use it as ammunition.

5. Tell your spouse you love him (or her) more often than you think you need to. Sure he (or she) knows it, but what's the harm in making someone feel super loved. No one ever died of being loved too much.

6. When your spouse gets inordinately upset about something, there's probably something else going on. He (or she) is probably really troubled about something totally unrelated. Be the mature one and hear him (or her), rather than complain that he (or she) is "blowing things out of proportion." You'll end up supporting him (or her) instead of fighting.

Happy April!

Well - as you know my birthday is this month - April 26th to be exact and I thought it would be a great idea to tell you 26 things about ME! I will tell you one thing each day until we get to the big day so stay tuned.... (I sound like Quinn counting down. Quinn always starts in early February or sometimes even January counting down her birthday for us!)

#1 - I love being a mommy, especially a TWIN mommy. I love those little munchkins so much it is crazy! I always knew I wanted kids but I didn't know it would feel like this. Here are a few of my favorite things about being a TWIN Mom:

  • Sweet Angel: There is always someone in a good mood. Inevitably if one kid is having a tantrum, the other is being an angel.

  • 2-For-1 Bonus: One pregnancy, two babies - only one childbirth, one childbirth recovery, and one newborn sleeplessness period, and you get TWO kids out of the deal.

  • A Bond: crawling together, holding each other hand, talking to each other, kissing each other, being more than best friends, etc... This bond starts even before birth and hopefully it will continue for all their lives.

  • Don't sweat the small stuff - you don't have time with two!

  • Double Everything: Double hugs, double kisses, mommy-in-the-middle "sandwich", Twin spankings, etc.

  • Alike, but Different: It is fascinating to observe twins. They are so alike, yet SO different. It is interesting to see them develop as individuals.

  • A Sense of Status: Okay, I'll admit it! I get a thrill of pride in being a mom of Twins. It's like being in a club. I love the reaction I get when I tell people I have twins. "Wow!" "I always wanted twins." "I don't know how you do it..."

  • Sharing: Twins share EVERYTHING - their birthday, their parents' attention, and most of their stuff! Although sometimes this can be hard for them it is fun to watch the unselfishness they display from time to time.

Stay tuned for #2...
